Some think it's an odd combination, the Maltese and the English Bulldog, but we believe that they are some of the best companions! Both breeds are some of the absolute best family pets you will ever, ever give your heart to! And trust me, it's very easy to lose your heart over and over again. Obviously we did...
We got our first AKC Bulldog, Bennett's Hoosier BEAU-stitch in 2004, when a unexpected tragedy took the life of our male Maltese, Koty. He was 10. We knew that the Lord gave Beau to us because WE NEEDED HIM as much as he needed us - as did our surviving female Maltese, Lexi.
I won’t go into the whole sad story now, but just so you know—Beau was just over seven weeks old when he helped to heal, mend and stitch together the broken hearts in our entire family. Including Lexi's. She was in horrible depression over the loss of her best friend and constant companion, Koty and she needed a 'Big Bully Friend' to love and protect her! I wish you could have seen Beau with Lexi. With all of us - it's like he just knew! Absolutely Precious!!!
We thank the Lord for Beau. He was a precious gift to us.….and because of Beau's sweet, kind and gentle sprit, we were ALL bitten by the 'Bully Bug' and none of us will ever be the same again.
Of course, we still had our sweet, little female Maltese, Lexi. She was the perfect lap dog. She was my ever present friend and shadow. Sadly but expectedly, Lexi was 13 years old when she finally went home to be with Koty in 2008. We believe they are both patiently waiting for us by the RAINBOW BRIDGE until we can all be together again. We still love and miss them both very much!
Some say Bulldogs are kind of like potato chips, and you can't stop at just one....could be right! In the in the early winter of 2006 we added another Bully to our family! We drove all over the Midwest to find just the right little girl! Her AKC name is Bennett's Seed of FAITH. Faith is the Great Grand Matriarch of our now increasing Bully Family line! What a blessing she has been to us! And from there our Bully love affair just kept growing!
In 2008, we did adopt another beautiful little toy Maltese. Her AKC name is Bennett's Blessed SAVANNAH Souvenir– because that is where we were, in Georgia ,on a family visi-cation. We were blessed with finding her. She was just 8 weeks old and the most precious little ball of fire you could ask for. (Only problem we had was that we had to buy her her own plane ticket so she could ride with us in the cabin to get her home to Indiana). But again the good Lord knew exactly what we needed when He blessed us with Savannah, because – (shhh….don’t tell her, but, she THINKS she’s a Bulldog!)
Savannah now spends most of her time with our extended family, Kerri and Tony Hamilton down in Southern Indiana - she tends to be just a bit too bossy for the younger Bullie siblings! (She is the real BULL-headed one of the bunch!) Incidentally, Savannah is hopefully going to be a mommy again very soon! Be sure to check out her Maltese Puppy page once we get it up and going.
Speaking of the Bullie siblings...out of the puppies of Faith and GrCH Empire's Prince MARCUS' last two litters we kept three. Both litters were absolutely stunning quality, but of course we couldn't keep them all - (Jeff's says I tried) But that would have been selfish, so.... Bennett's Great Man of Faith, NOAH of Empire , Bennett's LEGACY of Faith by Empire and Bennett's Princess CAMEO of Empire have each found a permanent place in our hearts and home.
Legacy you may already know more about, as she is the sweet momma of the beautiful little puppies we are currently hoping to find homes for.
Noah and Cameo have been busy making their rounds in the show ring. Be sure to check out their pages.
Noah is now proven and available for Stud Service to approved bitches. In fact, he will have a litter of Bully Babies hitting the ground first of December, 2011. They should be ready to go to their new homes by February 2012...so watch for more news on his page. It will then link you to the Dam's Owner's upcoming website: JUNEBUG BULLDOGS, Newtown, Indiana
Lastly, we also have a beautiful miniature Silver-Tip Persian cat. The Great Contessa! TESSA just likes to sit back and look pretty, and oh yeah...let all the others four-legged kids know every now and again, that SHE is the one true Queen of the very busy Bennett castle.
